What’s in it, and why does it seem to speed up healing for seemingly every puncture, scrape, cut or wound (except for the ones that require stitches, of course)? What is “triple antibiotic ointment” vs “antibiotic ointment”?
Antibiotic cream/ointments are topical, (applied to the skin) used to treat skin infections and to prevent infections in burns, skin grafts, minor cuts, and wounds.
They work by killing the bacteria that cause infections. There are many types of antibiotic creams, and each kills different kinds of bacteria.
Triple antibiotic cream may used to kill a number of bacterial infections (broad spectrum). Where as a single antibiotic may only kill one type of bacterial infection.
