America Drug-related

do you think that by legalizing drugs in America?
that it would cut the crime rate for drug related crimes(buglaries, muggings, gang related crime, ect)?
John B. I talking about RELATED crimes. I work in a prison and although alot of prisoners are not there on actual drug charges, they are crimes that they commited to get money for the drugs. If drugs were regulated by the government, maybe the profits could be used to help people here in the US instead of making the drug cartels richer.
The ‘War on Drugs’ has been an expensive failure for years. It is kept in place by powerful financial interests, unfortunately. They regularly lie in order to keep the current laws in place. But yes, legalization would slash the profits of numerous drug cartels worldwide. For example, legalizing heroin and opium would take billions of dollars of profit out of the hands of the Taliban in Afghanistan.
