Drug Treatment

Should Drug addicts in prison receive drug treatment?
Drug treatment could range from just AA or NA meetings, or more intense treatment if needed. Most addicts when released from prison will go out and use drugs and commit more crimes to get money to use drugs if they did not receive treatment while they were locked up. Isn’t it better to release them with a better chance not to use drugs?
Seeing how it already costs the government millions of dollars to make these low life’s as comfortable as possible already, I can’t see them spending any more on ‘em.
Is it a good idea? Questionable. From a sociological standpoint, the environment that these felons go back to will be almost identical to how it was when they were removed from it.
They’ll likely fall back into the motions regardless of what we can do for them (because they’ve already done so much for us, right?) due to their habits and normal day to day activities.
Good thinking though.
EDIT: The question asks “while in prison.” She isn’t suggesting an alternative.

Some critics have scoffed at the mov… |
